The Lexus Project's "Cody Trust"
The Lexus Project was very pleased and honored when The NonHuman Rights Project used the Lexus Project's "Cody Trust" as the basis for standing in their recent habeas corpus filings on behalf of the chimpanzees in N.Y. State. Though the Court denied their applications on substantive grounds, none were rejected for lack of standing. We look forward to seeing their appellate briefs and have our fingers crossed that the higher Court reverses.
To date The Lexus Project has successfully asserted Cody Trust standing in NY, CA, CT, MI, MO, IL, PA, TN, TX, OH, AR, VA, MD, FL, WI, NV, SD, GA, NM, MA, RI.
States added as cases arrive.
If you know of a case where a dog is in peril of being declared a vicious dog
In dealing with any incident, the earlier The Lexus Project is able to get involved the greater the chances we can save the dog and avoid litigation. If you know of a case where a dog is in peril of being declared a vicious dog, please contact The Lexus Project immediately so that we can make our inquiries and coordinate the efforts to save the dog. Waiting to see what happens before intervening will usually work out poorly for the dog.
Feel free to use, change or delete any or all of it. If you have issues that are not covered or paragraphs from your current form you would like incorporated or updated please send them to me. I would appreciate a copy of your present contract (you never know where you'll find good ideas) and I will get to them on a time-available basis. -Rich
