Fiona, Buddy, and Cookie

2 pit mixes, Fiona, a beautiful red pit mix and Buddie a beautiful blue pit mix and Cookie, a puppy pug mix taken from a loving family because the next door neighbor doesn’t like dogs. The neighbor has called ACO on dog owners twice. The dogs were taken away the second time. The owners went to court without counsel, lost and contacted the Lexus  Project to help. The owners are faced with less than 30 days to put up fence and or kennel which must be approved by town, pay fines of $90.00 a day to board the 3 dogs until case is settled, microchip, post signs up that read "DANGEROUS DOGS" and they cannot have any contact with humans or any other animals in the future.. These dogs have lived with small children, cats and ferrets. While in the custody of the ACO, Cookie, the pug mix died from an unknown cause. The ACO never bothered to tell the owner. They found out a week later.

Thanks to our local attorney, Sarah Stewart, we were able to negotiate their release home. Other than the fence, all other demands were dropped. The dangerous dog label will be dropped in June at the next available court date.

We grieve with and for the families senseless loss of sweet Cookie. God Speed little one. We are so sorry animal control failed you.
