Tony / Pongo
Tony Toes aka Pongo is a young Podenco mix whose picture showed up on TLP Facebook page. Pongo was in a shelter in CT. He is cat, kid and dog friendly and has a huge personality for this 40 pound pup full of love. So why wasn't he getting adopted?
Pongo had heart worm. To treat it costs about $1000.00. In addition, he is not neutered nor is he up to date on his shots. Most people don't want to adopt a shelter dog and drop $1200.00 ++.
We knew that if he wasn't treated soon, he would die so we pulled him and brought him to our amazing vets in New York. He had his heart worm treatment and everyone at the vets fell in love with him and were genuinely saddened to see him leave after his treatment. He was there 10 days.
Pongo went into foster care in NJ while he waited for his forever home. His foster parents fell in love with him, but they felt he really needed a more active home. Not too long after we started the search for his forever home, Pongo's forever family appeared!
Pongo is now living with his fur sister, human mom and dad in PA. When Pongo reaches the 3 month mark from the time he started his treatment, as long as he tests negative for heart worm, he will be neutered and get the rest of his vaccinations.
It's because of our generous supporters that we are able to continue to help dogs like Pongo and save their lives.
We thank you, Pongo thanks you and Pongo's family thanks you.
